June Recap--some summer fun

I have collected a lot of pictures over the past week, and thought everyone would enjoy these, and this blog is a great place to post them for all to see.  Enjoy.
Doug and I got to go on a little camping trip to 9-mile canyon.  We stopped the 1st night at Scofield Reservoir. It was beautiful, and the air smelled so good. But what I loved the most was being able to see the infinite number of stars that night under a clear sky. Our new truck tent, that Doug just had to get, doesn't allow up totally to see out of the top, but it was sufficient to appreciate the beauty of the skies. The next day we drove on over to 9 Mile canyon, found a camping spot in the canyon at a private ranch, then went exploring to see the petroglyphs that the canyon is known for. Takes you back in time driving in this remote canyon with a lot of old homesteads along the creek.
Scofield Reservoir camp site--beautiful views of the lake

9 mile canyon ranch campground--the canyon is more like 60 miles long though to traverse it from Willington, to the Green river where 9-mile Creek flows in to.
The Great Hunt panel in 9-mile canyon. Pretty impressive to see.

We took a drive around Scofield to see how much water there is--its maxed out with more running in every day. Doug took us to the place where years ago (1993? I believe) he and Casey had hunted with Randy Stewart on the west side of the lake, and where the family had come up to see them and where we had taken that family picture that day. Does the background look familiar? Its changed a little bit.  The horse corral is still there, but they are using the site as a sand and gravel pit.

So now back to normal living. Emory decided the pond in the back yard had been dry enough and it was now time to fill it and add her own personal touch--Water Lillies.  Improvised from hollyhock leaves and a few of my peony's.  It looks pretty authentic and has definitely improved the looks of the pond.

Summer brings such nice days full of sunshine, warm weather and of course irrigation. How fun to watch the grandkids enjoying having water run through the yard, and them running and splashing.  The dogs of course enjoy it too (minus collars) and Russell even seemed to enjoy it too.  Grateful we live where we can have this treat.  Told Noble today that he missed irrigation yesterday and he went augh (like he was sorry he missed the fun). But I told him next Monday we would plan a 4th of July water irrigation funtime.  We get the water at 1:30 pm next Monday--plan on coming and getting wet. Our own personal swimming pool of sorts.
